Days 3-4
Choose Your Adventure
These days, we will design the trip around the groups preferences. Choose from a plethora of activities including SUP boarding, kayaking, Heli-hiking, hiking, and forest bathing*.
Forest Bathing: In Japan, people are encouraged to practice a type of forest therapy called Shinrin Yoku or forest bathing, which translates to ‘taking in the atmosphere of the forest’. The good news is you don’t need to wear your bathing suit to get the benefits just be in the forest for a couple of hours. Japanese scientists figured out the trees give off an organic chemical compound, called phytoncides, when you go into the forest with all your senses attuned you bathe in these compounds which then provide a multitude of benefits.
There is one glitch, you won’t get the same results hiking, running or mountain biking. It’s a different way of being in nature. By going out with a guide you will be shown how to tap into this simple yet powerful practice.
Heli-hiking: Heli-hiking offers you the chance to reach the wildest and highest locations in comfort. An exhilarating helicopter flight will sweep you over some of the most stunning mountain scenery in the world, and then you’ll be dropped off in the alpine, far from any other hikers or sign of civilization, to trek through the wilderness.Heli-hiking adventure in late July to see the alpine wildflowers in full bloom.
Choose how long you want to fly for and the difficulty of your hike: there is a range of options from easy walks through alpine meadows to strenuous treks to mountain summits.
SUP Boarding: Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) is a fantastic way to enjoy some exercise and experience the park and its surroundings by water. Head out at dawn to watch the sun come up over the mountains and hear loons calling across the lake, or enjoy an afternoon of gentle rapids and brilliant views on a lively river. We’ll include a guide to ensure an exploratory day.
Kayak or Canoe: Explore the tranquil lakes and waterways of Banff National Park by kayak or canoe. Canoeing and kayaking are ideal for a few hours, or pack a lunch and make a full day of it. Most lakes have picnic areas with tables and benches, a sandy beach, and swimming area.
Hiking: Sitting on a rock perched high up on the alpine pass, you can’t help but feel proud of yourself. There were moments during the long, gruelling climb where you wondered whether the effort was really worth it. But now, as you gaze at the iridescent turquoise lake far below and the imposingly rugged peaks all around you, you feel a profound sense of wonder. And for a few special moments, your everyday stresses seem so far away. It was most definitely worth it.
